The President of the House of Representatives, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila, facilitated the installation of free Wi-Fi in six public tertiary institutions in the state of Lagos to facilitate learning.

The exercise called ‘Free Campus WiFi’ is part of Gbajabiamila’s way of giving back to society, with the aim of building a stronger educational sector.

This is because the speaker also facilitated the construction of fully equipped ICT centers in 10 secondary schools in his Surulere 1 Federal Constituency in the state of Lagos. The House of  Reps Speaker’s gesture about free Wi-Fi covers tertiary institutions from the federal government and the state government of Lagos in the state.

The six public institutions of higher education that have so far benefited from the Speaker’s initiative on free Wi-Fi are: University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka Campus; Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo; Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu Campus; Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED), Ijanikin; Michael Otedola College of Education (MOCOPED), Epe, and Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH).

At the State University of Lagos, Ojo, free Wi-Fi was launched for public use on behalf of the President of Parliament by the former immediate vice chancellor, Prof.

With the launch, LASU students can now access free WiFi at the Babatunde Fashola Senate building, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social Sciences, LASU FM, at the School of Communications and the ICT Center and some nearby areas.

As for UNILAG, free Wi-Fi access points are available at the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Social Sciences and the School of Management Sciences.

In the case of the Polytechnic Institute of the State of Lagos (LASPOTECH), Campus Ikorodu, access points for free WiFi are available at the School of Technology, at the ICT Center, at the School of Engineering, at the School of Architecture, at the School of Management and Business Studies, the Library complex, the Skills Acquisition Center, the Activities Center (Students Union), the School of Environmental Studies and the School of Pure and Applied Sciences.

In addition, at Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Ijanikin, access points for free WiFi can be obtained at the Library, School of Science, School of Education, Administrative Block, School of Professional and Technical Education, at the Staff Club , Gardens within the school premises, the Sports Center, the School of Arts and Social Sciences and the Arabic Language Department.
